Health

The health sector is struggling just like any other institution in a country that is less than a decade since independence in July 2011.

Although some improvements have happened over the past years, with significant reduction in maternal mortality and infant mortality rates, there are still huge gaps in providing basic healthcare. The country is currently implementing health system strengthening through the Health Pooled Fund (HPF) which provides funding to nongovernmental organizations running peripheral health facilities under the Ministry of Health.

Other efforts include HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria, Guinea worm and polio eradication programmes.

DJF strives to bring into focus health challenges and advocate good healthcare for the population.
