Education

DJF values the pivotal role of education in building societies. It is our belief that South Sudan can emerge from viscous cycles of conflict into a prosperous, modern state through investment in education. We encourage the use of media in promoting new technology and positive learning.

According to the 5th Sudan Population and Housing Census, 2008, only 26.8% of the South Sudan population had ever gone to school, and 6.6% of population above 15 years of age had acquired education beyond secondary level.

Many children of school-going age are out of school although basic education is free. More so, many private and public schools have sprung up in the country in the fight against illiteracy.
