About Us
Development Journalists Forum (DJF) is a national organization that focuses on promotion of the role of media in democratization and transformation. It works closely with local and international media organizations, media development agencies, civil society groups, including youth and women development movements, as well as other partners that promote democracy and pluralism towards better transformation.
DJF has three major programme areas. These are:
- Media for Transformation
- Community Media for Inclusive Development
- Training and Capacity Building
Furthermore, democracy, equality, social justice and inclusiveness
are the cross-cutting themes of DJF.
Vision
A just and peaceful society where citizens have control over their own lives, work cooperatively and provide direction to their leaders. The end in view is a violence-free South Sudan that safeguards participatory democracy with guarantees of social, cultural and economic inclusiveness and a place where all people have a sense of ownership over the nation-state.
Mission
Be a professional facilitator of transformation with the use of media as a tool, strengthen community media, advocate democratic values and undertake training and capacity building.
Organizational Objectives
- To advocate democratic values, including social justice and
equality, through the use of media. - To facilitate positive transformation and inclusive development by
strengthening the community media in South Sudan - Engage youth and women media workers in advocating for peace
building and the role of media in promoting equality and justice. - To encourage the use of new technology to create a comprehensive
macro environment for new media and accountability. - The Forum seeks to create a platform for exchange of ideas, exchange visits, perspectives and future outlooks on the country’s media landscapes, and to build a network of South Sudan journalists, and with that of their neighbors.
